Treptes Minesweeper: no guessing, only logic
The classic mine-clearing puzzle, with one promise: you never have to guess. Your first tap is always safe, every board can be solved by logic alone, and every hint explains the reasoning.
How to play
Open every cell that has no mine. A number tells you how many of the 8 cells around it hide a mine. Your first tap is always safe and opens an empty area.
Tap a closed cell and choose Open, Flag or Clear. Flag the cells where you know a mine is. Tap a number whose mines are all flagged to open its other neighbors at once. In Settings, fast mode lets you open with a tap and flag with a long press.
What makes it different
- Never a guess. Every board is checked when it is created: from your first tap, logic alone can finish it. No 50/50 at the end, no lost game you could not have avoided.
- Hints that teach. A hint shows the next logical step in stages and names the pattern, from the simple 1-1 to counting the mines left. Patterns you discover are collected in your profile.
- A second chance. Hit a mine? Undo that move once per game, for free. It costs a few rating points, so a clean solve is still worth more.
- A board for your level. Three quick questions and two placement games set your starting rating. After that, your rating moves with every game you finish.
- Daily Challenge. One shared board a day, at the right difficulty for you, starting from the same marked cell for everyone, with streaks and a calendar of the days you solved.
- Ads that respect the game. Never during a game, never on pause, never on the first game of the day, and only after you have played for a while.
Difficulty levels
Each level has its own board and needs a deeper kind of logic. Hard and Genius boards stand upright on a phone; pinch to zoom in.
- Easy
- 9×9, 10 mines. Cells that are clearly safe or clearly mines, and the 1-1 pattern.
- Medium
- 16×16, 40 mines. Overlapping numbers, like the 1-2 pattern.
- Hard
- 16×30, 99 mines. A large board, now and then a group of numbers to read together.
- Genius
- 16×30, 99 mines, built around the hardest patterns: groups of numbers and counting the mines left. Still pure logic, never a guess.
Frequently asked questions
Is Treptes Minesweeper free?
Yes. Easy, Medium and Hard boards, the Daily Challenge, one second chance per game, your rating, medals, time records and statistics are free. Premium adds the Genius level, unlimited hints and second chances, 3BV statistics and no ads.
Do I need an account?
No. You can play straight away and your progress is saved in your browser. With a free Treptes account, your progress follows you on all your devices, the same account as in our other games.
Can every board really be solved without guessing?
Yes. The board is created only after your first tap, around it, and it is kept only if a solver that uses logic alone can finish it from there. If you ever seem to need a guess, you missed a step, and a hint will show you which one.
What is the Daily Challenge?
One new board every day, at a difficulty that matches your level. Everyone starts from the same marked cell. Solve it every day to build a streak. If you hit a mine and end the game, the day's board can't be played again.
How do hints work?
If a flag is in the wrong place, the hint points to it first. Otherwise it shows you the next logical step in stages: where to look, why, and finally the cells to open or flag, with the name of the pattern.
How does the rating work?
Your rating shows your level, from Newcomer to Master. Your first games set where you start. After that, every won game moves it up by at most 25 points: a board that is hard for your level earns more, an easy one less. The first 10 games are for calibration and are scored double.
Every second chance takes 10 points off what you earn, and hints lower it too. A lost game, or starting a new one while another is unfinished, counts as abandoning it.
